Senator Mark Segebart is a sixth generation family farmer, community leader, and a member of many Ag commodity groups. He spent 16 years as a Crawford County Supervisor before running for state Senate in 2012. Senator Segebart represents District 6, which includes all of Audubon, Buena Vista, Carroll and Sac counties, in addition to the eight eastern townships in Crawford County.
Besides his work on the family farm and on the Crawford County Board of Supervisors, Senator Segebart and his wife, Catherine, have been advocates for children their entire lives. Catherine was a long-time public school teacher, now retired, and Senator Segebart was a school bus driver for the ArWeVa Community School District, now retired.
Senator Segebart and Catherine have been married for 46 years and farm outside of Vail. They are the proud parents of two adult children and also have two grandsons.
They are active members of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Manilla, Iowa.
